Middle School Supports

CSF's college readiness program begins in middle school when students' grades, attendance rates and level of school engagement have a major impact on their ability to complete high school and position them to be successful in post-secondary education.  College and Career Coaches are AmeriCorps members who engage low- to moderate-income students, many of whom are first-generation college-goers or students of color, in college awareness and readiness activities.

  • Coaches provide College Bound Scholarship (CBS) sign-up support and in-school college awareness support to 7th-8th grade students eligible for CBS.
  • Students participate in a structured college awareness/readiness curriculum.
  • Collaborate with scheduled after school programs and career related events to promote development of college and career knowledge
  • Work with staff to support efforts to increase academic attainment with the overall goal of enhancing a college-going culture
