Yakima brings incoming and current college students together for year-end gathering
CSF-Yakima recently held its “End of the Year BBQ” at the Yakima Arboretum for incoming and current college students. CSF Scholars from Yakima Valley College, Central Washington University, University of Washington, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, Heritage University, Davis High School and Eisenhower High School celebrated the end of the school year together.

During the event, a traditional BBQ lunch was catered by local food truck Heavenly Smoked and slushies were flowing by Sip and Slush–a perfect cold treat on a hot day. Students played lawn games like cornhole and volleyball and relaxed making friendship bracelets and crafts. Lucky college students won dorm room baskets, fans and even mini fridges!
“It’s always nice to come together and see familiar faces from other schools and get together with friends and my CSF college coach,” expressed Sara Rodriguez, a student at Central Washington University.

Throughout the year, CSF-Yakima engages students in community-building events to help create a sense of place and belonging on campus. It is especially crucial to support new and returning college students over the summer months so they can stay connected and persist into the new school year.
We look forward to seeing our students over the summer to help them prepare for the fall. Whether it’s assistance with housing inquiries, course selection, or financial aid questions, CSF college coaches will be there to help navigate the challenges students face over the summer.
For CSF Scholars who still haven’t filled out the FAFSA/WASFA form, there’s still time, and CSF can help! Students can set up a free, virtual appointment for one-on-one financial aid help in English or Spanish using this online booking form.
